A female police officer was shot dead today, at Eneka community in Obio/Akpo local government area of Rivers State.
Africa Update gathered that the taskforce constituted to enforce the Executive Order of the State Governor, Nyesom Wike, had stormed the second market in Eneka, at about 5pm, to disperse traders who were flouting the order on market closure, but a policeman attached to the team, allegedly opened fire, and a bullet hit the female officer.
While there are other reports that the female officer had allegedly resisted the activities of the taskforce, who were destroying the goods belonging to these traders, others claim that the policeman shot and a bullet hit the officer.
Though efforts are on to ascertain the true position of the incident, the corpse has been deposited at an undisclosed mortuary.
