Diepriye’s mum had promised to buy a bicycle for him on his birthday, if he was a good boy during that period.
Being a little rascal, he tried to stay out of trouble. But unfortunately for him, just two days before his birthday he broke a plate in the kitchen though his mom was not at home when it happened, the maid informed her of it on her return.
His mom was so furious; she sent him to his room and told him to stay there for the whole day. He cried to his room and laid on his bed thinking of what next to do. Knowing that his chance of receiving a bicycle from his mum on his birthday was almost gone.
Diepriye was very sad, he tried to pray to God to make his mum have a change of heart, but he could not put the words together, he was too heartbroken.
He got up from the floor where he was kneeling, took out a piece of paper and pen and resorted to writing a letter to God.
He wrote several letters and that also seem not to be working. So, he tried staying calm since his mum had asked him not to leave his room, his plan would have to wait till morning.
The next morning he woke early and tiptoed out of his room and out of the house. His destination was the church not too far from his home. He ran straight to the church, Fortunately, the doors were not locked. As he walked to the altar looking very sober, but when he got there he looked to his left and then his right there was nobody, so he quickly took the statue of Virgin Mary that was kept there, he hid it under his shirt and ran home.
He did not stop until he was safe in his room. He put the statue carefully in his wardrobe and then with a piece of paper and pen in hand, he sat on his bed and started writing his letter.
Dear God,
I have just kidnapped your mother, I do not want any ransom, but if you want to see your mum again, make my mother buy the bicycle for my birthday
