So many Christians are struggling with issues ranging from keeping their prayer life on track, meeting their financial needs in the wake of the global pandemic and also maintaining healthy spiritual and emotional lifestyles.
While these challenges are expected, we should be reminded that as Christians, the word of God tells us in Job 22 vs 29, that “when men are cast down, then thou shalt say, there is lifting up”…
As Christians, It is important to remain focused and committed and here are a few tips to help you keep the spiritual fire burning:
1. Create a home/family altar
2. Start a bible studying time
3. Stay positive and have a thankful outlook
4. Online Evangelism: Build, Connect, Follow up Online:
5. Connect to your church online
1. Create a family/home altar: For those who don’t know what a family altar is; it is a place in your home designated for the communing of your family or household (even if you stay alone) with God.
On the idea of creating a family altar now more than every Christian should have one, as it is essential in keeping your faith up and strong.
During this period, we’re supposed to practice social distancing and our churches are not open physically, but can I tell you the truth? You don’t need a church building to worship God. The Bible tells us that God is a Spirit and those that worship Him, must do so, in Spirit and truth.
Our God is Omnipotent and Omnipresent, He is not tied to a building but He dwells in us. And the Bible also says “When two or three are gathered in His name, there He is, in their midst.
It’s great to make it a habit for you and your household to worship there it doesn’t have to be an entirely different place; it could be a designated time in your house when you worship. just call the presence of the holy spirit and you’re good to go.
2. Start a bible studying time: As a Christian creating time to study the bible makes you super charged, it empowers you and uplifts you. The bible tells us my people perish because of lack of knowledge. Having a regular study not just for this period but as a lifelong habit will strengthen your spiritual life. So I urge you to take out time today and dedicate yourself to regular bible study a knowledgeable Christian is an awake Christian who knows his rights and won’t be deterred by the devil. The Bible says in Proverbs 24 vs 14 ” so shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: when thou hast found it, then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off”.
3. Stay Positive and have a thankful outlook:
It is easy to turn to the negative during a time like this or fall into the trap of saying the negatives and viewing the pandemic in the worst of light and stop being thankful for things that we have. We all should remember the promises of God and continue having faith, never losing sight but being thankful to God at all times. You’d be surprised how a little positivity could brighten your day.
4. Online Evangelism: Build, Connect, Follow up Online:
Depending on your commitment to the body of Christ and the Gospel, there are different ways to utilize the online world.
When we talk about online evangelism we are referring to using your social media accounts as avenues for fellowship, you could create a broadcast or emailing list to keep believers connected.
You could send short messages to people who you’ve won to Christ constantly engaging them so they won’t feel the absence of going to a physical church. As a believer you should equally join online groups that will enable you build your faith through the word of God.
5. Connect to your church online: As obvious as this might be you’d be surprised how many people actually commit to viewing/worshiping online. Currently every major church in Nigeria has a website and they come with a live broadcast. So today I urge you to make it a lifestyle and dedicate yourself (Even if you have to set a timer) to tune in to your place of worship and be connected.
